They last more than 20 years, based on scientific research and clinical studies. You just have to care of them a see a specialist dentist who adapts the veneers correctly as Dr. Diaz. Patients who do not subject their veneers to excessive force, e.g. eating hard foods like bones and who maintain good dental hygiene can enjoy their veneers for more than 20 years.
The better you care for them, the longer they last.
The missing teeth can be replaced with porcelain fixed bridges or dental implants, both dental treatments are permanent and great solutions, we need to evaluate your clinical case and discuss with you what dental treatment suits you best.
No, they won’t stain, porcelain is made from glass-ceramic and isn’t porous like natural tooth enamel (and like composite veneers), and therefore it doesn’t absorb coffee, red wine, or any of the other common culprits behind stained natural teeth, so you can enjoy a brighter, whiter smile for years and years.
You can drink coffee, wine and tea without worrying about staining.
Yes, they are completly safe for your teeth and overall health. The veneer itself, being made of porcelain, is biocompatible so you never have to worry about having an allergic reaction, besides, we use the best materials, approved by FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and ADA (American Dental Association).
Yes, the dentist has to be specialist in dental aesthetics and oral rehabilitation, the official name for that specialization is prosthodontics, is the organization of dentists with advanced specialty training who create optimal oral health, both in function and appearance. A prosthodontist specializes in treating complex dental and facial problems, including the restoration and replacement of missing or damaged teeth, they are highly trained in porcelain veneers, dental implants, dentures, zirconium crowns, bridges, temporomandibular disorders, and more.
Choose a prosthodontist because of their advanced education and training, efficiency, and expertise with advanced technology. Prosthodontists are extensively trained in state-of-the-art techniques and procedures for treating complex dental conditions and restoring optimum function and esthetics.
Rigorous training and experience give prosthodontists a special understanding of the dynamics of a smile and the preservation of a healthy mouth.
A prosthodontist is a dentist who has completed dental school plus three additional years of advanced training and education in an accredited prosthodontic graduate program.

Nothing will happen to your natural teeth as long as you take care of your veneers – which is easy to do.
Having said this, decay can still occur if veneers aren’t installed properly, or you neglect your dental hygiene. That’s why is so important that you see a specialist dentist who adapts the veneers correctly as Dr. Diaz and you have to do proper oral hygiene on daily basis.
Just as you take care of your natural teeth:
-Carrying out proper oral hygiene on a regular basis (brushing three times a day, flossing and using mouthwash). We show you the correct tecnique for great oral hygiene.
-Do not crush or chew hard foods such as bones and ice.
-If you have Bruxism; unconsciously clenching and grinding teeth, it is recommended to use
a night guard, in order to protect teeth and veneers.
-Visit your dentist every six months for routine examination and a cleaning session.
We perform all dental treatments (fillings, gum contouring, deep teeth cleaning, extractions, roots canals, porcelain veneers, porcelain or zirconia crowns, porcelain fixed bridges, dental implants, dentures, braces removal, retainer, night guard).
Yes, we do deep teeth cleaning and any other dental treatment you need before cementing porcelain veneers.
Teeth whitening just lasts a few months, between 2 and 3 months and your teeth never going to look as white as they can look with porcelain veneers, so if you want to have whiter teeth for more than 20 years we recommend you to get porcelain veneers, besides, teeth whitening doesn’t correct size and shape.
Veneers and crowns are the main way to restore a tooth, the difference is that veneer is a thin layer that covers just the front surface of a tooth and crown is like a cap it covers the entire surface of a tooth and it is used when a tooth has suffered from damage, decay and it restores size, shape, appearance, color and strength, they are also used to replace missing tooth to make a fixed bridge, if you already have crowns and you want or they have to be replaced, they have to be for crowns not veneers.
Porcelain is 100% better quality than composite.
Composite veneers aren’t meant to last as long as porcelain veneers. They aren’t as strong as porcelain, can break easier and damage often, you will need to replaced or repaired them frequently.
Composite veneers also stain easily, so you will have to adjust your diet to avoid foods like coffee, red wine or tobacco — anything that could discolor the resin. Composite turns yellow after a period of time so you will have to change it.
We highly recommend porcelain veneers because porcelain is the best quality, research shows it is highly and extremely resistant to damage, has high fracture resistance, doesn´t stain, it doesn’t turn yellow, better aesthetics, better fit and lasts more than 20 years.
The short answer is no, porcelain veneers don’t harm your teeth in any way as long as you see a qualified dentist and specialist in dental aesthetics and prosthodontics like Dr. Diaz, let a specialist take care of your dental health.
